Queens, NY – Progressive public interest lawyer, Soma Syed, launches her campaign for New York City Council today in district 24 covering Briarwood, Electchester, Hillcrest, Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, Jamaica Estates, Parkway Village, Fresh Meadows, and Jamaica.
“My entire professional life has been fighting for the needs of people on the margins,” Ms. Syed said. “We live in a diverse community, so our needs are diverse. We need a Council member who has the experience of representing people and understanding how improving New York laws and policies can impact communities.”
Soma Syed launched her campaign website focusing on a “Justice for All” platform. Her justice platform on housing, economic, education, environment, healthcare, and criminal justice are the centerpiece of her campaign to improve the district. “Too many of my friends and neighbors have lost their jobs because of Covid, have little or no health insurance, have lost their businesses, close to foreclosure, and are one paycheck away from homelessness. We need a Councilperson who can protect our communities and provide leadership to survive through the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.”
